Aremuorin’s “Bright Lights” — A Cultural Charity Record Amplyfying Epilepsy Awareness Through Music

Epilepsy affects around 1 in 100 people in the UK and remains widely misunderstood, despite its prevalence. Cultural visibility complements clinical understanding by inviting empathy and shared narrative – Epilepsy Action

Bright Lights: (Club Remix)

Aremuorin’s Bright Lights moves beyond the charity single, positioning music as a form of cultural advocacy — addressing epilepsy with artistry, restraint, and intention rather than spectacle.

Epilepsy Action is a national charity supporting people with epilepsy across the UK. They provide life-changing support through their helpline, Talk & Support Groups, 1:1 Peer Support, as well as campaigning for better healthcare and greater awareness of epilepsy.

Overview

Bright Lights is a charity record released in support of Epilepsy Action, created to contribute to epilepsy awareness through culture rather than campaign rhetoric. The project invites listeners into a reflective experience, using music to create visibility for a condition that remains widely misunderstood and under-represented in public discourse.

Rather than instructing or alarming, the record offers presence — allowing awareness to emerge through listening, empathy, and shared cultural engagement.

Why It Matters

Bright Lights (Afrobeats Remix)

Epilepsy affects hundreds of thousands of people across the UK, yet it continues to occupy limited space within contemporary arts and media narratives. While clinical understanding has progressed, cultural understanding has lagged behind.

Bright Lights is a five-track EP that reimagines one original composition through diverse interpretations — blending jazz, club, and afrobeat. Created as both a creative exploration and a charity release, it directs a portion of the proceeds to Epilepsy Action, a leading UK charity supporting people affected by epilepsy with information, advocacy, and education – Wikipedia

The Music & Its Intention

Rooted in Aremuorin’s lived experience of navigating absence seizures, Bright Lights translates personal awareness into sound — not as autobiography, but as atmosphere.

Bright Lights: (Afro Soul)

The music does not attempt to explain epilepsy. Instead, it offers a space in which listeners can feel proximity to an experience often rendered invisible. In doing so, the record reframes neurological difference as something worthy of cultural attention rather than marginal silence.

This approach aligns with a broader belief that art can expand public understanding where language and statistics often fail.

About the Artist

Aremuorin (Anthony Everest) is a writer, artist, and humanitarian whose work explores faith, identity, and social conscience through culture. A No.1 jazz chart artist with over 49 weeks on the charts, his projects frequently sit at the intersection of artistic expression and ethical intention.

Bright Lights continues this trajectory — demonstrating how creative work can operate with restraint, integrity, and consequence.

The charity’s aim is to create a ‘World Without Limits’ for people with epilepsy. By 2030, Epilepsy Action wants all people with epilepsy in the UK to say their lives have improved, and everyone in the UK to know what epilepsy is and how they can support people living with epilepsy.
