Reflection Without Truth Is Silence

Although today is Easter, I almost didn’t share this out of respect. But reflection without truth is just silence dressed as peace.

When I think about the scale of humanity’s atrocities, I cannot ignore the weight of what was placed on one holy life as sacrifice. And I cannot help but mirror that with what was done to this man in front of over 16,000 people simply because of the colour of his skin.

Some call that history. But its systemic afterlife still exists — through laws, policies, institutions, and cultural behaviours that continue to disenfranchise Black and brown people across the world.

And when that same misalignment appears even among those who call themselves allies, it forces a deeper question: what are we really doing here?

Is this the life I want to live?

“I haven’t met anyone yet who is truly confident and needs to put someone else down. Real confidence is quiet. It doesn’t compete — it stands.”

To say racism and slavery no longer exist simply because they have changed form is dishonest. They have not disappeared. They have adapted.

If reparations could be acknowledged in one history, why is justice for Africans and Black people still so difficult for the world to confront honestly?
