So …Happy Mother’s Day Lauryn Hill. You are my political consciousness mother. The first CD I ever bought was Fugees the Score. I was mesmerized by your brilliance and beauty.

You stuck it to white power in every song lyric and bar. Your talent was immense but your love for black people was even more magnificent.

I know the industry tried to control you and then tried to kill you.

I know the horrible things they have done to you. You refused to pay taxes as a way to protest the system and went to jail.

The media tries to drag you but I will always love you and always defend you. Because no matter what, you produce music for black people and for revolution.

Your music has held me through every stage in my life. It was your song black rage that made me quit my job as a model agent and join the revolution.

I love you so much L-Boogie!!!
