Found this songwriting workshop footage, I attended, a decade ago; performing my first penned, song “How Is Life“. 

The scattered applause at the end had me ambivalent and insecure about my singing for years ..’

An uplugged (stripped) version. Wao! Early morning singing, no warm ups.

So, I cruised through the song, rather than letting rip of my vocal cords. I did that regrettably, once before, due to poor music inductrination and racial peer pressure.

It cost me a lucrative major record deal among other things like racial trauma and ptsd. So, no! Not again. Beyond the pain, and making lemonade out of my lemons, I have performed this song, numerous time’s live at Ronnie Scotts.

It’s a cathartic favourite to play at jam sessions, with the house band, when asked to perform my self-penned songs. I’ve written hundreds of holistic  cathartic songs for my music therapy journey to overcome narcolepsy & depression. The remixes are just as cool.

Been always iffy about the acoustic version🧐. I nearly deleted it several times. It was one of the rare moments I observed on film, I was a Tom Girl and unique. I hated it for years till I embraced my individuality (uniqueness). The very african consciousness (Osumare) I was demonised for .

Everyone should. This opened my eye into the world of toxic masculinity in some men. Particularly, in some black men and why they are the way they are. Escuse the digression🧘🏿‍♂️.
