Dear FolksI would rather be a star, shinning side by side, like the million others, basking in the glory of the sun in the blue sky. I have no time for sabotaging anybody. Whoever put that narrative out there is evil. Low vibrating foolish people.
Have had several phone calls from some of my beloved friends and I’ve decided to say a few things about the last few days rumour. This was a little mis-communication that should not have happened, between myself, and the organisers of the June 7th event. As a Writer and a Musician, it is not my intention to sabotage any creators work, directly, or indirectly; but defend my work, brand and reputation.
However, respect goes both ways. It’s very simple. If you disrespect me; I will disrespect you. If you respect me, I will respect you, more. I’ve always supported, all my friends: friends in Hollywood, Nollywood, Nollywood UK & colleagues outside the industry.
Although, some of them, undermine my talent, work ethics, integrity and/or try to dishonour my reputation maliciously. So, I’ve made up my mind to take my career, very seriously, because I work very hard.
I maybe very jovial and a happy go lucky person; but I’m not stupid. I know my worth and what I bring to the table. As far as being a black lgbtq+ advocate and creative; some black folks especially, need to let it go, and stop being hypocritical, or rude, using inflammatory, antiquated cultures, or religions, to malign people’s reputation. We’re all humans.
The ignorance and self hate around lgbtq+ and their friends or families needs to stop. Period! There’s room for everyone to shine, spread love, and be productive. So, I will encourage you all to go and support the June 7th event – myself there, or not as a performer.
As a professional person, I have agreed to perform on the day. I’ve organised myself, spent money on the music production & my wardrobe and even turned down some other bookings because of the event. So, four days to the event, when I find out that I am no longer performing. I find that very unprofessional, especially, when I promoted the event on social media to my audience and friends.
It makes me look unprofessional, if I say nothing. It would also damage my branding and reputation as an artiste if I take no action. So, I had to publicise the fact publicly that I will not be performing since I was taken out of the line up abruptly because I asked how much I was getting paid. That’s not sabotage. It’s just telling the truth.
Doyin said, fondly, she is my only sister in London when we have had our wonderful good times in the past. If she needs me, I’ll come running.Siblings quarrel and make up (Biological or Not).Let it go ..’Love,Aremuorin#IfYouNeedMe
